Whirly Waves Wrap: A bit of Crochet Happiness!

The Whirly Waves Wrap might look intricate but it’s actually a simple crochet pattern! It mostly consists of double- and single crochet stitches. Easy does it!

Asymmetrical triangle crochet wrap

The Whirly Waves crochet wrap is actually the first in a series of designs I made using different wave stitch patterns. I just can’t get enough of these waves. (I’m actually designing another one right NOW ;-)). After the Whirly Waves Wrap I designed the the Garden of Honey shawl, the Sweet almonds shawl and the Winter Waves Wrap.

I just didn’t get to publishing it. Now the pattern has been tested thoroughly and it’s ready to meet the world.

The Whirly Waves wrap is a huge asymmetrical crochet wrap. It measures 140x 180 cm!! If you prefer a smaller wrap, you can of course just stop whenever it suits you!

Like the other shawls I mentioned, it has one side that increases on every row. You’ll begin at the point and work it until it grows larger. I’ve made a photo tutorial and the pattern also includes a chart. You won’t cut your yarn every row, so no ends to weave in! Just two skeins of Scheepjes Whirl and you’re good to go! Of course you could replace the Whirl for any yarn cake you like. The measurements might only be different then.

The pattern is suitable for the advanced beginner crocheter.

This asymmetrical triangle wrap is worked from the bottom up and features double- and single crochet stitches and a few chains on the side. It’s worked in rows, which means you’ll have to turn your work at the end of each row.

The shawl is a simple repeat of 8 rows.

To finish things off nicely, I decided to add one row of crab stitches but that’s completely optional.

Yarn selection: Scheepjes Whirl

Scheepjes Whirl Yarn Cakes

I used two skeins of Scheepjes Whirl for the wrap. I used them both up almost completely.

Scheepjes whirl is a delicious gradient yarn from Scheepjes which comes in 54 scrumptious colour ways. I love the blend of 60% Cotton / 40% Acrylic. This makes your projects lightweight and breathable. A big and unique plus, if you ask me, is the generous twist of the yarn which helps prevent splitting. The beautiful drape of this yarn tops things off.
