The Bobble Heart Knot Square: A Free Crochet Pattern for Peace

Gratitude & Solidarity

In 2020, I crafted the delightful Bobble Heart Knot Square and shared the free pattern as a gesture of gratitude for your unwavering support and online friendship.

Fast forward to 2022, the square has been reborn, this time, donning the colours of the Ukrainian flag as a symbol of solidarity with Ukraine’s people. As an added bonus for those participating in the #crochetforpeacecal on Instagram, this revamped pattern is available for you to create and showcase your support.

Embracing the Granny Squares

There’s something timeless about Granny squares, with their various forms and dimensions. Their versatility simplifies the undertaking of substantial projects, allowing for progression one square at a time, a method that resonates profoundly with me. This approach reintroduces a sense of mindfulness into my crochet endeavors, offering immediate satisfaction with the completion of each square, an experience that is undeniably gratifying!

The pattern

Skill level: Easy
Materials needed: Yarn, Crochet hook, Scissors, Yarn needle
Yarn used: Durable cosy fine Plum (249)

For the #crochetforpeacecal I used Scheepjes Softfun Colour 2518 and 2602

Crochet hook: 4 mm hook Clover amour

Special stitch: Bobble stitch (B): (dc4tog, ch1) in same st: crochet 4 double crochet together in the same stitch and finish with a chain 1.

If you would like to make the Bobbles in a different colour, change colour on the last yo of the last sc before the Bobble. Make sure to keep your yarn on the WS.

I just left my yarn hanging to pick it up again when needed. This saves you from having to cut your yarn and weave in all the ends. All the Bobbles are made in the WS.
