Rosalia shawl

The Rosalia shawl is a floral inspired shawl with a huge spring vibe. It’s the perfect shawl to celebrate that spring has sprung!

Rosalia

Rosalia means ‘rose’ in Latin and as I designed this shawl for the Hobbii Spring Bloom – Floral Frenzy Campaign, I thought it was the perfect name.
This name has been used for centuries and is also associated with Saint Rosalia, the patron saint of Palermo in Italy. It can also refer to a melody in which a phrase is repeated successively, each time a step or half step higher. The latter reminded me of the pattern repeat

Chrocheted Petals

Some of my pattern testers told me the petals were quite challenging to make. I made a few extra photos using solid yarn to clarify this stitch even better. I’ve also made a video and included the link in the pattern.

I’ve tried to make this crochet pattern as accessible as possible for beginners, but some of the stitches might be a bit tricky. This is why I’ve graded the pattern as intermediate.

Asymmetrical crochet shawl

You’ll start with making the bottom corner and from then on you’ll increase on one side every row until you reach the desired width. Then you’ll make the body of the shawl and after that you’ll end with the decrease part. The measurements are 21 x 215 cm!

Yarn selection: Hobbii Unicorn

For this crochet shawl I used Hobbii Unicorn. Unicorn is a light weight merino wool/ polyamide yarn that’s ever so soft. It’s the perfect yarn for soft, spring/summer shawls and wraps that will not be itchy at all. It has a wonderful, airy volume.

Unicorn comes in hanks and each hank of Unicorn is unique because the yarn is hand-dyed. As the yarn is dyed in small batches, two skeins will never be the same and the colours vary more than usual from lot to lot.
